About The Kandinsky Effect

The Kandinsky Effect is a band formed in 2007. They are a modern jazz ensemble; both powerful and sensitive within their own unique sound. Constantly searching for new ways to improvise within the jazz idiom. The Kandinsky Effect can be found lurking along the borders of jazz, rock, electronica, hip-hop, and experimental sounds searching for freedom of expression. Tenor saxophone, double bass and drums play subtly with sounds, colors, rhythms and forms to create a rich and original musical world, which mixes personal compositions and covers from their individual influences. Influences range from John Coltrane to Aphex Twin, Ornette Coleman to Radiohead and Dave Holland to Daft Punk. The band has been compared to The Bad Plus, Happy Apple, Fly, and Kneebody.
