About The Forminx

Beat-group of the mid 60's from Greece. the FORMINX played beat-pop, sung in English in the style of the early Beatles and the Shadows. Famous member on hammond organ was VANGELIS Papathanassiou (from 1968-71 together with Demis Roussos successful with APHRODITE'S CHILD, later as a solo artist, pioneer of Electronic Music and composer of film scores). First there was just the idea of having fun, but the Forminx quickly became Greece's most popular band bringing beat music to their country. They filled concert halls with screaming fans. Between 1964 and 66 the teenage band released numerous singles like "Ah Say Yeah" or "Jenka Beat". Their biggest hit was "Jeronimo Yanka".
