About The Chweger
The band was established in 1997 in Pula, Croatia. The members were already grown-up men when the band started, new to playing music. Now they are very grown-up men, someone said „wise men with children's hands“. All members have graduated (journalism, design, mechanical engineering, foreign languages, economics) and they do their regular daily jobs..... Chweger is also the name of an indoor football team in which the band members play. In fact, the circuit of people around the band are all „Chweger“- it is trying to be a sort of fraternity. The name derives from a game called 'knock-on-the-head' – an important skill when we were kids. Live appearances: support for Calexico (in Pula, Roman Theatre), opening of the painting exhibition of the well-known painter Bojan --umonja, 2 appearances at Art&Music festival (in Croatia, Pula). The most important engagement so far was making a part of the music for the dance performance „The Gallery of Dead Women“ created by Slovenian dancers Maja Delak and Mala Kline. Three instrumental pieces from that performance are included on the CD. The CD "The Chweger" contains songs from a 10-year-long period, recorded during 2005 and 2006 in Pula, Medulin and Ljubljana.
