About The Carolines

There have been at least three groups that recorded as The Carolines. 1. A five-piece band based in Portland, Oregon active in the early 2000s. 2. A New York girl group active in the mid-1960s. 3. A British girl group consisting of three teenage sisters from Hatfield, UK, who were active in the mid-1960s 1. The Carolines are a five-piece band based in Portland, Oregon, made up of brothers Aaron (lead vocals, piano) and Nathan Trueb (lead guitar), Nate Purscelley (guitars, trumpet, background vocals), Matthew Lenhart (bass, background vocals) and Jared Abraham (drums, background vocals). The Carolines self-describe their musical roots as "'Hey Jude'-era Beatles and Supertramp with touches of Steely Dan." In November 2001, The Carolines independently released a seven-song EP titled, "Don't Believe What You Hear". The band was invited to place two tracks from the CD on the Band:Union vol. 2 compilation released in Austria and Germany. Extensive touring throughout the Pacific Northwest yielded the band the privilege of performing at EMP-Seattle during the Pop Culture conference, attended by pop music writers and editors from around the world. They have also played with such notable acts as the Gin Blossoms, Imperial Teen, and The Long Winters. In January 2003 their song, "Gentleman", was featured in the DVD ski film documentary, "Superpark: The Movie" which was produced by Powder Magazine and AXIS. Their second release, "Youth Electronics," debuted in 2003, and a third release, "Meet Me At The Marriot," became available in 2005. 2. The Carolines were a New York girl group active in the mid-1960s. Members were Carell Mancuso, Sylvia Torres, the sisters Trish (Pat) and Evie Patane. The Carolines were originally called The Teardrops but were renamed after one of Carell's nicknames. At one time they also recorded as "The Little Bits featuring Karyl Mann". In 1966 they recorded the single "Can't Stop Lovin The Boy / You're My Baby". In 2018 Ace records released an EP with three previously unreleased tracks from 1966. 3. The Carolines were a British girl group consisting of three teenage sisters from Hatfield, UK, who were active in the mid-1960s. They were 15-year-old songwriter Carolyne Samuels, her twin Helen and their younger sister Marion. In 1965 they released one single for Polydor, "Love Made A Fool Of Me / Believe In Me".
