The Bad Guy

About The Bad Guy

The flexibility required to adapt in different environments calls for great skills and patience. The King of Oklahoma, better known as The Bad Guy, has become a master in this ability. Born in the state of Michigan and raised in Oklahoma, The Bad Guy not only learned how to adjust to ever-changing physical surroundings, but also how to survive drastic life situations. Along the way he developed a knack for sharing his experiences through insightful lyrics and a distinctive delivery. After escaping several hardships, including being shot and serving time in prison, The Bad Guy discovered that through music, there is salvation. “I learned that at any given time, anybody – not just the top dog – can take everything away from you. You have to depend on yourself.” Loosing everything would actually prove to be a blessing. Faced with starting over, The King of Oklahoma found himself in the recording booth where he was able to transform his struggles into something positive. Influenced by artists such as Run DMC, LL Cool J, T.I., B.G. and Jay-Z, he developed a well rounded style that would become his signature sound. His quick witted tongue and confident approach became known as “Swag Music”. He explains, “I feel like I’m actually in a different genre. Everybody does hip-hop/rap music; well, I do swag music.” In fact, by creating his own lane, The Bad Guy has been able to capture the attention of fans that might otherwise be skeptical of an independent artist. He says, “Music is like a stress reliever. It’s a way of talking to people that won’t listen if you’re just chit chatting with ‘em. It’s taught me how to express myself without worrying about what people think about me.” His true-to-life testaments and in-your-face persona earned him the respect of listeners and his career as an artist quickly took off. The Bad Guy landed appearances on several compilations and showcases across the U.S. To date, he’s performed in Falls River, MA, Dallas, TX, Lawton, OK, Clarksville, TN and Nashville, TN for the African Street Fest at Tennessee State University. The high demand for Swag Music generated plans for future projects and collaborations. Through expert networking abilities, The Bad Guy secured a feature from Mr. Serv On (formerly of No Limit Records). The Chopped-n-Screwed inspired hit “Green & Vodka” is currently set as his album’s first single. In preparation for the 2007 release of his promotional mixtape Money, Mac, & Maintain and album Swag Music, The Bad Guy has developed a strong marketing plan which includes internet and street promotion. He’s also in the process of finalizing the structure of his label Street Swag Music Group. Although he’s open to securing major distribution, The Bad Guy is fully prepared to make it on his own. “I would like to reach the ultimate peak and go major but that’s not something I would say I’m leaning on. I’m focusing on being heard and getting my label off the ground.” With all he’s learned about making something from nothing, The Bad Guy is well equipped to handle any challenge with his unyielding swag.
