Tesla Girls

About Tesla Girls

Tesla Girls was formed in Hrisey, Iceland in 2003 by two graphic design students, Johannes Kjartansson and Siggi Eggertsson. On their way home to Reykjavik, driving an old Peugeot that used to be called the Iron Eagle, they formed the band. The name is taken from a song they both loved, by Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark. Since the band was formed, not much happened. They were both busy in school, and working on other side projects. However, Eggertsson made one song, based on an old children song. Kjartansson also made a very political song, too political for this world to hear. After graduation, Kjartansson started working for an advertising agency, and Eggertsson moved to London to push his illustration carrier further. But they always kept the idea about Tesla Girls behind their ears. And then it happened, as Eggertsson was on a holiday in Iceland, they hooked up and started working on musictogether. The idea was born. Tesla Girls is a highly conceptual band. Before, both of them used to make album covers for other musicians, but then they got bored with that and decided to turn it around and start making cover albums by other musicians. Currently they are in a studio, working on old material, and you can expect them to release an album in the next couple of months / years.
