September 15, 2011 was a memorable day for Tesla Manaf Effendi feat Mahagotra Ganesha for many reasons. First, it was the night when they finally appeared in solo concert. Second, it was the 40th anniversary of Mahagotra Ganesha and most importantly it was the day when the album entitled “It’s All Yours” was officially launched. Located at the open stage(outdoor) of Amphitheater Aristektur ITB, the ensemble made a grandeur celebration for the launching by giving up one magic moment to the attended audiences. Watching the journey of Tesla Manaf Effendi is like watching on a story about a young man who struggled to make his dreams came true. He’s willing to give his all to fight for something that he truly believes in, and his passion and love towards jazz has enabled him to take one step at a time, steady but sure. We knew him first of all in an event called Ramadhan Jazz at Padjadjaran University, Bandung about 3 years ago when he was just established his dynamic duo with Bayu Kristanto named Bayu & Tesla. At that time they played Chick Corea‘s song, including a classic hit of him called “Spain” which was pinned so nicely just by using keyboard and guitar. Too bad Bayu had to quit playing music since he had to work in Jakarta. From that moment, we started realizing that Tesla has the kind of ‘restless’ soul inside him, that push him to find (or make) a way out whenever he’s stuck in something. He formed G/E/T with Edward Manurung and Gallang Perdhana Dalimunthe that once was highly active. But then when the band got paused, he made another breakthrough by teaming up with Grace in a group simply named as Grace & Tesla, exploring jazz with world music attached within. One album was made by this unique collaboration.
