About Tankard
Tankard is a German thrash metal band formed in 1982 in Frankfurt am Main. The group humorously describes its musical style as "alcoholic metal" due to the frequent appearance of alcohol-related themes in its lyrics. Known for their close relationship with fans—often sharing beers with them after concerts—and for their performances at international festivals, Tankard has built a substantial global following. Along with Kreator, Destruction, and Sodom, they are recognized as one of the "Big Four" of Teutonic thrash metal, credited with helping to shape and popularize the German thrash metal scene. The band’s producer until 2000 was Harris Johns, who has also worked with Helloween, Sodom, and Voivod. Since 1986, Uwe "Buffo" Schnädelbach has served as Tankard’s manager and is also known for his work as an editor for the metal magazine Rock Hard and as a music photographer.
