From the Silverton Swamps in the Far East of Pretoria comes Black Cat Bone. Born from a Muddy Waters lyric and raised amongst the patriot gators of the SA music industry, BCB plays a fused selection of Deep South Rock and Hoodoo Blues. The accumulated experience of this intriguing 4-piece hail from years and years of constant gigging, touring and recording as part of some of our top local artists. Suffice to say that they have performed at most major venues and some festivals in South Africa and obviously alongside our more established acts, gaining the respect and admiration from their brothers (and sisters) in arms as well as their fans along the way. Together they are a smooth, energized unit that produces attention-demanding songs, while their live performances generate a significant amount of ‘groove’ with a far-reaching, lingering effect. The band formed in 1966 with original members Paul Tiller (vocals and harmonica), lead guitarist Paul Kossoff, brothers Derek Brooks (rhythm guitar) and Stu Brooks (bass), and drummer Terry Sims. The band is notable for having had Kossoff and Simon Kirke in its lineup. Kossoff and Kirke would soon join the highly succesful Free in 1968. Kirke also became a founding member of Bad Company in 1974.
