About Svet Nureka
Svet Nureka is an avant-garde synth pop/new wave act with a dark twist, based in Tallinn, Estonia. The project draws inspiration from the decay of the Soviet utopia, the British underground music scene of the 1980s, Neue Deutsche Welle, and 1920s Russian futurist poetry. Its lyrics blend magical realism, absurdist poetry, and occasional social critique. The band played its first show in Saint Petersburg in January 2018 and supported Drab Majesty during the Estonian leg of their tour in April 2019. That same year, Svet Nureka collaborated with Swedish visual artist Fuji Hoffmann, who provided unique analogue psychedelic visuals for the band. Svet Nureka released its self-titled debut album on cassette in 2018. Since then, the act has released seven more albums and several singles. Since 2022, the project has stopped performing live and focuses on studio work, occasionally releasing music videos as standalone aesthetic manifestos.
