About Susana Rinaldi
Susana Natividad Rinaldi (born 25 December 1935) is an Argentine tango singer. Rinaldi was born in Buenos Aires. For eight years, beginning in 1949, she studied music at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música. In 1955 she entered the Escuela de Arte Dramático (School of Dramatic Arts), remaining there for two years. 1957 saw her debut on television and two years later she appeared on the stage in a major theater production. Her tango recording career began in 1966 when Rinaldi recorded her first album for Madrigal, an independent label. Over time her career as a tango singer was to eclipse her work as an actress, although she continued to appear in film, TV and theater. Rinaldi and her husband, bandoneon musician Osvaldo Piro, opened the cafe-concert Magoya in Mar del Plata in 1971. In 1976, with Argentina under a new military dictatorship, she made her debut in Paris, the city where she ended up living from 1989 and from where she would become one of the most important voices of international tango. Rinaldi is a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador.
