About Sugar Mountain

The passion for rock’n’roll of five young spanish gives birth to a musical project called Sugar Mountain. 70’s bands like The Band, Faces or Free are the first foundation of their sound, compact, direct and raw rock’n’roll with a southern twist (as many have said). Then everything else has certain impact in the music of the band, formed nowadays by Javier Ruano (guitar and vocals), Ruben Alvarez (bass), Yago Carreño (guitar), Isaac Campos (piano, rhodes and hammond), Jose Salgado (drums) and Nestor Busquets (percussion). After recording two demos called “55 Tambo Island” (2000) and “A Little Sugar For Your Mind” (2001), Sugar Mountain published their first EP in 2003, after offering near of 200 shows in their less than four year existence and having played with international acts such as The Georgia Satellites, The Diamond Dogs, The Bellrays and many important bands of spanish scene all over the country. In the beginnings of 2004 the band recorded their first full length effort, called “Hand Crafted Tunes”. The record was produced by Dan Baird (The Georgia Satellites, The Yayhoos, ...) and is published in Spain by Good Sounds. The album gets great reviews not only in Spain, but also in many european countries and is distributed in Germany, UK and the US. Now the band is about to publish their second album, supposed to be released by summer of 2006.
