About Sound of Ruby
Sound of Ruby (Saudi Arabia) A Dammam-based rock band that plays grunge, indie, punk & blues. Formed in 1996 by M. Al-Hajjaj (vocals & guitars) & Nasser Frog (drums). After so many bassists joined and quickly left, Kamal (Bass) took his position in the band as a permanent bassist. Even though the band's been playing since then, they made their first demo "Super Acoustic" in 2004. The second effort "Blue Lips" was released in 2005. The album style was limited to blues and grunge due to the lack of proper recording equipment and record quality. However, during the same year, the band worked out a solution for the sound quality which gave birth to their 3rd album "Thallatha" (an arabic word that means "three"). Thallatha showed the other different side of the group, as it's style was more punk, grunge & indie. one of the album's songs "Pokemon is Punk" was played by many radio stations in Europe and the States. After Nader (lead guitars) joined in 2006, the band released "Migraine" featuring the two successful tracks "Abo-Hadria Road" & "Barbie's Head or Someone's". The album witnessed a development of the group's punk sound while gaining more grunge relativity. Then, Esam Al-Ghamdi (drums)joined the band to fell Nasser's place. The following 2007 album, "Shedding Skin", retained a part of the blues style the band used to play two years ago while keeping it as grunge as they used to play and less punk. The band made the last 3 albums available to download freely on their official website.
