About Sonex

Sonex is a group of young Mexicans who worked to innovate the traditional music of Veracruz, the Son Jarocho, using the same traditional instruments and dance, adding contemporary beats and influences such as Funk, Jazz, Hip Hop, Flamenco, African music, etc. This has led them to be introduced to the fashion designer Carolina Herrera for the Bill Gates Foundation. In the same way they were presented in international events as ambassadors representing Mexico in the "Ibero-American Summit of Presidents" in the "Palacio de la moneda", Santiago, Chile; In Los Angeles and Washington in the Kennedy Center . They were 1st place winners of the contest "u música también cuenta" organized by the National Geographic Channel and MySpace, in commemoration of Earth Day, performing this song before more than 11,500 participants. They have released an album and have collaborated with Café Tacuba and Ojos de Brujo. Memebers: Luis Felipe Luna Farias (Requinto, Jarana, Zapateado & vocals), Helio Martín del Campo (Jarana, Cajón, Chekeré, vocals) Camil Meseguer Rioux (Violin, Jarana, vocals) Jeronimo Gonzalez (bass y Jarana) and Daniel Avila Sousa (drums).
