About Skromta

Skrömta is a Swedish/Finnish folk ensemble who plays its own version of folk music, a rough mix of original compositions and traditional folk songs. The instruments are nyckelharpa, hurdygurdy, violin, vocals, guitar, double-bass and percussion. The members come from different parts of Sweden and Skrömta's music is profoundly based upon the heritage of traditionial Scandinavian music, such as: polska, schottis, polka, hyfs, marches, walking tunes etc .. with a timespan from the early medieval era to modern time. All this music is interpereted and transformed into Skrömta's music - most of the songs are written by Matti and Frida, and constitutes this highly condensed and energetic music wich impersonates Skrömta. The songs are performed with the attitude of a full-blooded rock band, yet the music is still all acoustic. Resulting in a meeting between modern music trends and the immense power of nordic folk music. (source: www.myspace.com/skromta)
