About Skip Ransom
Skip Ransom is a four-piece Powerpop/Indie Rock act from Poughkeepsie, New York. The group was formed by Daniel Stankus (guitar/vocals), Dan Smith (bass guitar), Max Orloff (guitar) and ex-drummer Nick Monti (Down & Out, Analog Faucet) in the fall of 2004. Auston Sumitro has since taken over the role of drummer. Skip Ransom's sound is characterized by distorted guitars, catchy vocal harmonies, clever solos and Casiotone hooks. The band's quirky lyrical content and Synth-Pop sound has garnered comparisons to Geek Rock acts such as Weezer, The Rentals and Ozma. Many listeners recognize a strong Beatles influence in Skip Ransom's song structures and concepts. Skip Ransom self-produced their first proper LP, "Every Now & Then," which was released in August of 2007. The band has been playing clubs and venues in New York, Connecticut, New Jersey and throughout the Hudson Valley since 2005.
