Serious Solid Swineheard Is Better Than Homecooked were a band from the 1980s and 1990s based in Cologne, Germany. The band members were Christoph Maria Münch, dr, Friedel Benjamin, b, and Buddy Sacher, g/voc. Their music defies easy characterisation and has been referred to as avantgarde rock, art rock or Dada rock or as a combination of Frank Zappa, The Police and Soft Machine. Their first album from 1989 was named Sohn Ohnsens, a second mini album from 1991, named Simple Songs & Hard Beats, was followed by the 1993 album Swine Art, and their last studio album was Clapham Junction from 1995. Their last album, a live recording from 1997, is called Dance with the Skeletons in Hell and features a horn section with prominent members of the Cologne jazz scene.
