About Sergiu Cioiu
Sergiu Cioiu (born Oct. 7, 1940) is a Romanian singer, actor and composer. His repertoire is comprised of various musical styles, jazz, swing, folk or chanson, which he mixes in a very personal and unique way, at times incorporating elements of the Romanian folklore. Throughout his career, Cioiu has made it a priority to sing the texts of important Romanian contemporary poets (most of them his friends - Marin Sorescu, Nichita Stanescu, Romulus Vulpescu, etc.) and to interpret them from an actor's point of view. He is currently working on the upcoming CD "Arca Necuvintelor", a collection of poems by Nichita Stanescu.
