SELASSIE iPOWER Muzik Roots Rock Reggae Band Featuring Lead Singer/Songwriter RASTA REUBEN KWABENA AKA The Reggae Planet Ambassador Worldwide Rasta Reuben Kwabena born in Kingston Jamaica. He is the lead singer, songwriter and bass guitarist of the Jamaican/ Canadian Roots Rock Reggae band SELASSIE iPOWER Muzik. He is also known as The Voice Of The Reggae Planet Ambassador Worldwide as The Founder and Host of The Reggae Planet Radio Showcase on the worldwide internet. Rasta Reuben aka George Phinn Jr is also The Chief Architect, The Main Singer/Songwriter and The Orthodox Selector of The REGGAE PLANET Sound Crew alongside his musical brothers Frederick (Fredlocks Asher) Phinn & David (UncleDropsi) Phinn. "This genre of music is a new trend" says David Quilico of Sony Music Canada upon hearing the New Roots Rock Reggae music of Rasta Reuben & SELASSIE iPOWER. Reuben is a member of the Rastafari movement and is a devoted international advocate of The Teachings of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I & Empress Menen of Ethiopia. In This Regards Rasta Reuben Kwabena is now gradually establishing himself worldwide as one of Reggae's and Rastafari's greatest voices. Rasta Reuben Kwabena immigrated to Toronto Ontario Canada in the early 1980's and currently resides in Vancouver, BC Canada. He joined the Toronto music scene as a skillful bass player and foundation member of the House of David Gang. He went on to form the SELASSIE iPOWER song group with Rasta Reuben on lead vocals and with Yolissa Dalamba, Marcia Levi Collins and Julie-Anne Corby as harmony singers. His first major recognition was for the "Best Reggae Album Award" with the debut album "King of Kings" by Rasta Reuben & SELASSIE iPOWER Muzik at the 1998 Canadian Urban Music Awards. Reuben released the band's new album "Reggae Planet Vol. 1 Revelation 21 in 2011 with the support of Pro Music Records. He followed up with Reggae Planet Vol 2, Revolution 22 released in 2012. Promotional touring in Canada took place to support the CD and digital release. Subsequently Rasta Reuben Kwabena has performed all across Canada in all the major cities and towns of Canada and as far away as Darwin City Australia and in SERBIA 2013 at the Prestigious International World Muzik Festival known as THE EXIT FESTIVAL in The City of NOVI SAD Serbia. Currently He is working on The Band's New Release Reggae Planet Vol 3 "CHILDREN OF JAH SUN" & Reggae Planet Vol 4 "World Muzik Dub City." Rasta Reuben Kwabena Phinn & His brother Fredlocks Asher Phinn has also appeared as a featured Guest Singer/Songwriter, Dub Poet on several outstanding DUBMATIX Albums produced by Canadian Dub King Jesse "Dubmatix" King including: CHAMPION SOUND CLASH, ATOMIC SUBSONIC & RENEGADE ROCKER. These Albums were also released in France To rave reviews and high international critical acclaim. Rasta Reuben and SELASSIE iPOWER Muzik is a Visionary and Revolutionary Reggae World Music Artist. His musical influence was encouraged by his father who is devoted to collecting all types of music, particularly Black American Music and Jamaican Caribbean Music. In his adolescent years the music from the Great Legends of Reggae Bob Marley, Peter Tosh & Bunny Wailer, CULTURE, Burning Spear, Third World, Jimmy Cliff & Marcia Grifiths, Black Uhuru, Steele Pulse Etc had a profound spiritual and creative impact on his life and inspired him to turn his poetry into songs. He started writing and composing songs with his musical brothers Frederick (Fredlocks Asher) Phinn & David (Uncle Dropsi) Phinn and honed his craft at CW Jeffries High School where he studied the art of music and creative writing and learned to play musical instruments. Jamaican Recording Artist Joseph "Culture" Hill later played a major role as an inspirational musical mentor in Kwabena's career. Rasta Reuben’s popularity and international acclaim continues to grow as a widely known and revered powerful live stage performer and radio personality host of The Reggae Planet Radio Showcase. He is credited for helping spread both Jamaican music and the Rastafari movement to a worldwide audience through his songs and the "Reggae Planet Internet Radio Show" The next stride for Rasta Reuben in the Roots Rock Reggae Revolution is to expand the household brand name of Reggae Planet, Rasta Reuben Kwabena & SELASSIE iPOWER Muzik worldwide.
