About Saharadja

Saharadja originates from the exotic island of Bali, Indonesia and was formed in 2002 by Indonesian trumpeter-vocalist Rio Sidik and Australian-born violinist Sally Jo. Their music boasts a fusion of styles that include various ethnic and contemporary types of music delivered with a soothing blend of acoustic harmony. The band has since grown and now consists of seven members who between them play a wide assortment of instruments which include: the trumpet, electric and acoustic violin, didgeridoo, tabla, djembe, conga, darabuka, folk guitar, Irish Tin whistle, sarod, sitar and fretless bass. The original members are Rio Sidik, Sally Jo, Barok Khan, Ajat Lesmana, Badut Wijanarko, Gede Yudhana and Edy Siswanto. Saharadja added a new lead vocalist in 2006, Marina Nasman Saharadja's music captures a range of different rhythmic traditions from Asia, India, Europe, Ireland, Scotland, Latin America, Africa, and of course, the Indonesian archipelago. Their vast repertoire includes jazz, blues, soul and a small selection of covers with unique arrangements. Visit their official website at www.saharadja.com.
