About SDJ

SDJ's was born Shawn D. Johnson in Fort Campbell, Ky. He moved to Washington at the age of 3 and was raised in Tacoma, Wa. He had an early interest in music beginning at the age of 8 and joined band class playing the trumpet. His parents also bought him a keyboard which started a new fascination with music and how to construct it. He was never really interested in playing other peoples music, he focused solely on making his own. When playing in the high school band he would often improvise which would lead to reprimand. After high school he bought a guitar and taught himself to play chords by watching someone else play. He took to it immediately and began to write music in the early 90's and put it on tape. He also had a strong interest in rap and began listening to the gangsta rap of the late 80's and early 90's. In 1996 he bought a drum machine and 4 track recorder and began to make music that finally satisfied his tastes. In 2000 he discovered the art of making music on a computer. Today he still writes and records rock and also loves to record rap music with instrumentals he finds on the internet. Shawn lives in Yelm, Wa now with his wife and 2 kids. He is working on a rap album to put out by the summer. Stay tuned!
