About SCOTT MCWATT

Scott McWatt is a contemporary folk singer-songwriter from Glasgow. He’s released two critically acclaimed albums and has played everywhere from Ireland to Estonia, encapsulating audiences with his blue-collared outlook on life. Unsurprisingly, his influences are made up of those who share his outlook, including heroes like Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen and Ryan Adams. Though Scott feels literary figures like Robert Burns and F. Scott Fitzgerald also play a key role in helping shape his songs. Despite writing songs and lyrics since the age of 14, Scott didn’t actually own or know how to play a guitar until he was 18. As a youngster, his family couldn’t afford to buy him a guitar and instead was gifted one from a friend who he then played in a band with. From then, with a lot of encouragement from his grandmother, Scott taught himself how to play guitar and write all sorts of different songs. After dabbling in various rock, metal and indie bands, Scott finally settled as a solo folk artist. His music is brimming with stories, tales from his life he has spun into songs. First album Jekyll and Hyde, released in 2012 got McWatt off to a good start, with follow-up concept album A Ceist Ama showing maturity and receiving an extremely warm reception from listeners.
