About The Rumours

The Rumours may be referring to one of two different bands: 1) A band from Dinslaken, Germany consisting of four young men who play a mixture of indie rock and modern beat music. 2) A band from Wisconsin, USA that played indie rock and punk rock from 2001 to 2004 before going on to become "Beach Patrol." 3) A band from Iowa, USA, The Rumours are a 3 piece, in your face rock n roll band --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1) THE RUMOURS is a newcomer band from Dinslaken (Germany) consisting of four young lads in their early twenties. Their music can be described as a mixture of Indierock and Modern Beat. Founded in September 2006, THE RUMOURS have been supported by the program “Initiative Musik” with project funds from the German Federal Government by the end of 2009. Only a few month later the boys signed a contract with BMG Rights Management and in June 2010 their debut "From the corner into your ear" was released. Handmade and in your face! It does not rely on bells and whistles and unnecessary bulk, but has got everything that true Indie Rock needs: catchy tunes, one of the best upcoming German drummers, joy of playing and an excellent unique voice. Pounding, expressive, positive! What The Strokes are for USA...are The Rumours for Germany! 2) The Rumours started in a small town near Green Bay, Wisconsin and is on the self-created "duck on monkey" record label. Their music consists of indie and punk stylings consistent with a beginning band. Aside from an initial disc, there are no known later releases. The band functioned from June 2001 to January 2004, after which they went on to become the band "Beach Patrol." Band members include Nick Marcantonio (lead guitar/vocals), Jeff VanDreel (bass/vocals), Preston Ely (drums), Holly Trasti (rhythm guitar), and John Schmidt (drums). 3) Iowa’s own hard hitting road dogs, The Rumours are a 3 piece, in your face rock n roll band. They’ve got the classic punk vibe with a bit of a metal edge. Let’s just put it this way, The Rumours are the love children of Motörhead and Joan Jett. The Rumours are an unstoppable force that have been making waves in the rock n roll scene for the better. They are here to empower women, but through empowering women, they empower everyone. It’s not only music, it’s a message, and a message we all need see with our own eyes and hear for ourselves. After seeing The Rumours, you will undoubtedly find yourself on Team Grrrl. Their musical versatility has landed them on supporting slots and tours with international touring bands such as: Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Amyl & The Sniffers, Buckcherry, Supersuckers, Faster Pussycat, Koffin Kats, Nekromantix, D.O.A., Electric Six, Local H, Marky Ramone, to name a few. The Rumours have also played notable festivals like Rock Fest, Rocklahoma, Muddy Roots and Motoblot on their tours across the United States. They’ve also made their way overseas for an England tour in 2023. Over the last few years, The Rumours have put out two full length albums, Suck It (2020) and Kill or be Killed (2024). The band will be releasing some singles, and videos to support their next album coming in 2026. They will continue to tour extensively across the United States, but plan to make ground internationally in 2026 as well.
