About Ron Overcash & the Nu Blooz Band
"RON OVERCASH and the NU BLOOZ BAND--ALTERNATIVE BLUES"-a unique blend of Blues, Rock, and Country influences that make these songs unlike most you've heard before. Hard to label this sound--in the genres category, it was listed as "sounds like Eric Clapton and Albert King"; but those are just influencial artists, not that they sound like these guys. If you find that this material reminds you of a particular artist, I would like to hear from you about it. I can't think of anyone that it reminds me of. This CD is a compilation of songs that is not your run-of-the-mill blues. It has has songs which may be considered to be outside the "Blues Genre". It has traditional sounding songs(with a twist) and every song on the album has heavy blues influences; like "SONG FOR RANDALL" approaches the country side, but still bluesy; and "CENTERFOLD", sounds like an old R&B song with "Rap" lyrics over it. And the virtuoso instrumentalist "William Green", takes a simple 2 chord groove("INFATUATION") and makes a production out of it. So, I guess "ALTERNATIVE BLUES" is an appropriate title for this album, for after all--it's still nothin' but the BLUES. This album's for you---ENJOY. Members The band members on the cd are currently in other cities promoting their own projects; and there are occasions when 2 or more may be in Chicago at the same time to do a show---I will keep you posted! Influences I'm not sure what the influences are for the material on this CD. It takes something from every genre of music and laces it with an unmistakeably blues overtone. I personally, have been influenced over the years, in some way by every artist that I have listened to; so the original material doesn't have any particular dominating influence or sound--it just sounds like "ALTERNATIVE BLUES" to me. Sounds Like 1. Motorcycle Song sounds like an old Blues/Rock Texas slide song ala Allman Bros. 2. You Are So Beautiful Jazz swing with synthesized horn parts 3. Everybody Gets The Blues minor blues with a little twist 4. Sweet Daddy Traditional sounding harp dominated song 5&6. Divorce Blues & Train (Of Blues) Traditional blues 7. Blue Arandas--Slow Instrumental that is almost R & B 8. Infatuation just a 2 chord groove with lots of keyboard parts 9. Song For Randall Clearly a country influenced song 10. Hot Mama has that New Orleans zydeco feel to it 11. Centerfold this is a pop/R&B/funky/rap song? 12&13. Lowdown & Don't Hurry Sundown--not so traditional blues material All are included in the CD release "ALTERNATIVE BLUES" Source: On MySpace http://www.myspace.com/ronovercashcom
