René Dupéré is a French-Canadian composer, and is co-founder of the recording company, Netza. He is best known for his compositions for Cirque du Soleil. René Dupéré has composed some of Cirque's most popular albums, including Saltimbanco, Mystère, and KÀ . Dupéré also composed music for Cirque Du Soleil's earlier productions, including Cirque du Soleil and Nouvelle Expérience, and recently composed the score for Cirque du Soleil's Zed in Tokyo, Japan. René Dupéré is also the composer of Alegría, Cirque Du Soleil's best selling album to date. Featuring the opera trained voice of Francesca Gagnon, Alegría has sold over 500,000 copies worldwide, spent 65 weeks on Billboard's World Music Chart, and has received numerous awards including won two Felix Awards and was even nominated for a Grammy. Other notable events and works by Dupéré included composition for the Reunification of China and Hong Kong in 1998, the score for Holiday on Ice's 'Xotika', and 'Ismya Vova' for Air Canada, which later went on win a Gold Award at the 1998 New York Publicity Festival for Best Original Music. His wife, Élise Gouin (now known as Élise Velle), was an original singer for Mystère, and is also featured on the KÀ album.
