About Benoît Jutras

Benoît Jutras is a Canadian musician and composer, who is known for composing some of Cirque du Soleil's most popular albums, including writing the score's for Quidam and O. Jutras's first engagement with Cirque du Soleil was during the original bandleader in Le Cirque Réinventé, in 1987, before becoming the co-composer and musical director for the show's 1990 European tour. Jutras returned to Cirque in 1993 to become the bandleader at the new show in Las Vegas, Mystère. During 1996 the show went under major re-construction, with Jutras playing an important role of composing and arranging new songs for the show. The success of Mystère led on to Jutras composing Cirque du Soleil's next touring show in 1996, Quidam, which featured his daughter as one of the leading vocalists. Jutras returned again in 1998 to compose the two scores of the new permanent Cirque shows La Nouba, based in Florida, and O, in Las Vegas. Jutras has also composed the scores for Cirque du Soleil's theatrical releases of the 1999 Alegría the Film, and the 2000 film, Journey of Man. Recently, he composed the score for Le Rêve at Wynn Las Vegas, and collaborated with Franco Dragone in 2010 for his Macau production 'The House of Dancing Water'.
