About RIO GRANDE

There are two groups with the name Rio Grande: 1) Rio Grande were a portuguese supergroup composed of five great musicians, already consecrated in Portugal: Rui Veloso, Tim from Xutos & Pontapés, Jorge Palma, João Gil from Trovante and Vitorino. Their first hit was their starting record "Postal dos Correios". 2) Rio Grande were a psychedelic band from Tyler, Texas that infused strong country influences into their sound to create a rural psych sound similar to Notorious Byrd Brothers/Sweetheart of the Rodeo-era Byrds. They released a lone album in 1971 on RCA Records. David Stanley and Ronny Weiss of the great garage rock band Mouse And The Traps went on to this band after the Mouse period.
