About Queen Cult
Queen Cult are two gal pals presented live as a four-piece rock band based in Macclesfield, Cheshire formed by lead vocalist and guitarist Maisie Johnson and bassist Leila Jacklin, with Brodie Carson on drums and Piers Jarvis playing rhythm guitar. Their musical references are broad and include No Doubt, Paramore and Nothing But Thieves. After a pandemic imposed hiatus, Queen Cult returned in Sept '21 with new single “Show & Tell”, which detailed their candid struggles with the British government’s response to the pandemic. In Nov '21 they released “A Song About Consent”, a call out to being unheard and oppression in the modern age. Politically charged and with something to say on every track they release, Queen Cult released their debut EP "Woman That I Know" on 28th January 2022. Very much a live focussed band, amongst a string of performances in the second half of 2021 they appeared at LBGTQ+ nights Pssy Culture in Sheffield and Queer Off in London, as well as the Your City Festival in Stoke and the Macc in October Festival. They were also chosen by Music Venues Trust to participate in Revive Live Tour in January 2022 to support grass roots venues across the UK, and supported LibraLibra on 5 dates. Queen Cult featured in “Best of 2021” by BBC Introducing Stoke and have been tipped by Get in Her Ears and Rock Coven as “Ones To Watch in 2022”. Queen Cult identify as LBGTQ+.
