Porty

About Porty

Antonio "Porty" Portillo was born in Motril (Granada / Spain) and ever since he was a little kid he was already a big fan of Music, mainly because of his brother Dario (a little older than him) whose records Antonio listened for hours and hours, and that is how he knew bands such Zeppelin, Supertramp, Yes, Beatles, Jethro Tull, etc. Just bands that a little kid usually wouldn't listen to, a quote from Porty: "I think that I was very lucky to be influenced by such people at such an early age" Porty began to play guitar around the age of 10, just for fun, but never thinking he would be seriously dedicating himself to it fully. Porty never took guitar lessons, he's been fully self taught. His guitar teachers were the records he listened to. When Porty finished his University studies in the Fine Arts Faculty of Granada, he decided that it was time to start recording a demo. Porty did so and sent it to Didáctica Musical, a company that sells learning material in Spain. They asked Porty about making a learning video, he made it for them and he's been strongly collaborating with them since those days. He did clinics and shows beside Andy Timmons, Joey Tafolla and Jose de Castro, and bit by bit Porty was thinking about making some themes and recording a CD. around 2000-2001 he met Cheluis Salmerón, a Production Genius, and also a great musician and arranger. They were working together for more than a year to record Tangram that he now brings to you for your listening pleasure.
