About Plasticstatic

Plasticstatic is the music project of Keisha and Ryan T. Winn. They are mostly influenced by shoegaze, 'pataphysics, psychedelia, surrealism, art rock, absinthe, dark wave, cut-ups, and post punk. Plasticstatic began as Ryan's solo project in 1997. After a few homemade cassette EPs, Ryan started making multi-track analogue recordings in 2003. In July 2011, the first full-length Plasticstatic album (Reverse) was released. In 2012, Keisha Winn became a member and sang on the Anchors EP. The EP was released on 13 July, the 26th anniversary of the passing of Brion Gysin. It features the song "Flickering", which was inspired by Gysin's art and life. Later that year, Ryan broadcasted a live improvisation set to a film adaptation of Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi. The sound recording from that broadcast was edited and released as Ubu Roi Improvisations on November 1st, the anniversary of Alfred Jarry's death. In early 2013, a compilation of demos recorded between 2005 and 2009 was released as Foreign Spirits Lift My Voice, or Foreign Voices Lift My Spirit. Their most recent album, Retreat, was released in 2014.
