About Phil Hurtt

Songwriter, arranger and producer, Phil was a member of Philadelphia’s Young Professionals in the early 1970s. As a lyricist, his quick turnaround and catchy hooks made him a sought-after commodity. One of his biggest successes came in 1973 when he co-wrote the classic song “I'll Be Around”, but his catalog is much deeper and includes songs like “Sunshine”, “San Francisco/Hollywood” and many others. His work can be heard on records by the Village People, Sister Sledge, the Spinners, Jay-Z, Jackie Moore, LL Cool J and numerous others. A little known fact: he was very much in demand as a backing vocalist during Philadelphia’s soul heyday. Phil released two solo albums at the end of the disco era. Both were well received and continue to be sought-after collectibles by music aficionados.
