About Parental Guidance

Parental Guidance is from Carteret, NJ run by the high school band program, consist of enrolled students of Carteret High School. It is one of the only kind to have a high school non-profitable Rock 'N Roll/Pop band. Founded by director Alan Fossa and Tom Makoviecki in 1987 with PG '88, with influences from many bands, most credited to Tower of Power, they have started a musical experience for students, musicians, and viewers all around. The group has played in areas such as New York City, Florida (Disney/Universal Studio), Cleveland (Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame). All music is written by the director, or a student. After the retirement of "Foss" and "Mack", as of PG '07 and '08, it is lead by director David Rattner, with the assist of assistant director Rob Stasolla. Through the years in Carteret, the program has had talented musicians flow in and out, most known that were once in this special program is Latin Pop singer Maribel Diaz, and Jim Conti of the band Streetlight Manifesto. The songs played don't have to already have horns in them, most of the time, they are made up to fit the song. We play from rock, pop, hip-hop, to the oldies, and to the classics.
