About PZ

PZ is Paulo Zé Pimenta. He began making music in his bedroom with a computer, a sampler and a couple of synthesizers when he was 16. As he learned to tinker with machines and play various instruments in a auto-taught way, he developed a specific sound. Being PZ his most intimate project there are other musical experiences that allow PZ to travel through various sounds and different states of mind like Pplectro, Paco Hunter (developed alongside his brother Zé Nando Pimenta) and The Zany Dislexic Band (an improvisational band that also has Zé Nando Pimenta in the cast together with Duarte Araújo and Sergio Freitas). As strange and contradictory as it may seem PZ has built his identity through a multi-faceted and multi-disciplinary way of living. The coherence is divided into parallel worlds growing in their own dimensions. The PZ alter-ego reflects the chunk of the world that sounds more real to him. listening to his music however we see that reality is still stranger than fiction.
