About Push Up

There are at least two groups/artists by the name of Push Up: 1)the Buenos-Aires based punk/electroclash group, and 2)the Estonian dance-pop group. Push Up is a Buenos Aires-based band. It started in mid 2005 when Nahuel Ugazio (bass) and Fiona (vocals - Guitars) decided to finally begin with a serious project after a few frustrated attempts to form a band. Taking sounds from riot grrls bands (like Bikini Kill , Sleater-Kinney , The Slits , etc) electroclash (le tigre, peaches, Chicks on Speed) and indie rock (Sonic Youth, Pixies, Pavement) but still they do not stuck only in these styles, they still open to new experiences and sounds. After a while, they record their first EP, "Chicas" with Matíaz Mendez (Nuca) with Juanjo Lopez Scala in lead guitar and Fiona on Lead vocals, and their first shows, till Juanjo left the band. Making a small tour around Buenos Aires and the local underground of the west zone of that city. The actual formation is: Nahuel Ugazio: Bass; Fiona, lead guitar, and Marina Peque: Lead vocals. Push Up was also an Estonian dance act, consisting of two guys and then-sixteen year old Margit Margusson, who won "the bigges breast" competition. Thus the name. So, naturally, the band dressed sexy and sung about sex. Kinda like E-Rotic. They have released two albums, "Geisha" in 1999 and "Teeme süsti" in 2000.
