About Oratnitza

Oratnitza is a band formed in 2009 by four boys willing to reveal the beauty of the bulgarian folklore in their own way. They started by playing in the streets and gained popularity in their country soon after. Their compositions contain lots of modern genres: dubstep, drum'n'bass, hip-hop etc. The guys use various instruments, like home-made digderidoo (Jorje) and cajon (Buny). Their name "Oratnitza" is taken from ancient bulgarian tradition which comes from pagan time. It is a ritual for cleansing the body and the soul with fire and is still practiced in some parts of the country. Members: Popa - vocals Buny - cajon and large traditional drum, called "tupan" Horhe - didgeridoo Hristiyan - kaval
