One Step Beyond was a short-lived psychedelic rock band from Preston, United Kingdom, formed by songwriting partners Mick Carroll (vocals) and Pete Hughes (guitar). They never officially released anything, but their acetate recordings (including 1968's 'Scene of the Lemon Queen') have appeared on compilations and in sixties beat collections in recent years. Years after the demise of One Step Beyond, Carroll and Hughes were in a band called Ritzi, who had a major chart hit called 'Too Much Fandango' (1975) in Australia.
