Ole Edvard Antonsen is a Norwegian trumpeter, regarded as one of the most outstanding trumpet soloists world-wide. Starting out as a trumpeter in the Oslo Philharmonic, he left the orchestra to start a solo career in 1989, after having won the First Prizes of the CIEM-competition in Geneva in 1987 and the UNESCO competition in Bratislava in 1989. CDs he has made or particpated in making include "The Virtuoso Trumpet" (1989), "Tour de Force" (1992/92), "Trumpet Concertos" (1993)"Popular Pieces for Trumpet & Organ" (1994), "Shostakovich Concerto for Piano and Trumpet" (1995), "Read My Lips" (1997), "Twentieth Century Trumpet" (1998, "New sound of Baroque" (2000), "Ars Nova" (2002), "Willem Breuker Kollektief" (2002, "JAN VAN DER ROOST In Flanders' Fields Vol.39" (2003),"ABSOLUTE" (2004),"Frelsesarmeens Juleplate" (2004), "The Golden Age of the Cornet" (2006/07) Ole Edvard play many different styles of music - classical, of course, but also some jazz, blues, Pop and contemporary music.
