Hot on the heels of their brain frying demo these Japanese masters of psychedelic stoner grind make their CD debut on Rich Hoak's burgeoning Deaf American label. "The End Of Space" is the first step in NO REST FOR THE DEAD's attempt to redefine the boundaries and possibilities of grindcore. They take the grave rattling low end roar that is grind's calling card and they infuse it with a trippy, funky and exceptionally melodic psychedelia that is straight out of the late sixties. Maybe the mothers of these gents listened to a lot of STRAWBERRY ALARMCLOCK and IRON BUTTERFLY when they were in the womb, I don't know, but what I do know is that they have successfully constructed a distinctive vibe that is all their own... how many grind bands can say that? Precious few I assure you. The CD consists of 5 fabulous tunes in this vein and one longer and more experimental track that is astounding in its depth. It is a five part song that over the course of 20 minutes or so tells the story (using nothing but music) of the earth's creation, change, destruction and rebirth. You gotta hear it to grasp it. There are also at least two hidden tracks where the band really flexes its funky muscle and gets down with its bad self. Tons of fun. This disc is an absolute MUST OWN.
