About No Ninja Am I

No Ninja Am I is the semi-solo project of Amsterdam, The Netherlands-based songwriter, Sander van Munster. It has roots in indie, folk and movie soundtracks, all packed into compact tracks. On stage Sander is often accompanied by Rens van den Boogaard, Gijs Kerkhoven and Liselotte Vermeulen. Together they whip up a special live set featuring guitars, viola, mandoline, ukelele and harmony vocals. No Ninja Am I’s style can be characterized as a mixture of singer-songwriter and lo-fi indie, influenced by for instance Paul McCartney’s 'RAM' and John Frusciante’s 'Niandra Lades' or 'Curtains'. Sander released his first album in 2009, on his 30th birthday. This record, called The Roaring Twenties, is a collection of songs and experiments recorded over several years. More albums followed: Montélimar - The Next Round (2011), Plenty of Blankets (2022) and Kiss Your Friends (2024). The eleven-year gap between albums #2 and #3 may look like a decade of inactivity, but it wasn't: five EPs and several singles were released in those years.
