Nia started writing songs at the tender the age of 13. With over 300 songs and a volume of poems now part of her own collection, Nia has become a uniquely compelling songwriter, lyricist and poet. Her musical training has helped to refine (but not define) the sounds of her youth which were deeply immersed in Welsh language folk lore with the cross-rhythms and hard-hitting sounds of European folk music. Nias songs have always remained as original and unique as the stories that lie within them. Nia has always enjoyed poetry, especially penned by writers such as Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, Dylan Thomas and Emily Dickinson to name but a few. Nia communicates her ideas through musical portraits, snap-shots, stills and stories that give you an insight into thoughts and emotions. The song structures lie in cubist form, flicking from one time signature or theme to another. The driving force for all these wonderfully crafted songs is Nias voice.
