New Tradition

About New Tradition

There are at least 2 groups named New Tradition: 1) New Tradition is a bluegrass outfit that is firmly rooted in the gospel. The group came together in the early '80s with the intention of remaining a regional phenomenon. However, New Tradition soon found itself playing 200-plus shows a year and moving numerous copies of their albums. Over the years, the group has included: Danny Roberts, a songwriter, mandolin player, and bass vocalist; Richie Dotson on banjo and vocals; Sand Springs, OK, native Jamie Clifton on guitar and tenor singing; Daryl Mosely, a bassist and lead singer (who also pastored at a Southern Baptist Congregation near Nashville for a time and wrote for Ronnie Milsap's publishing company); and late-period member Aaron McDaris, a banjo player who had previously played with the band Second Exit. The group's Christian-infused repertoire consists of gospel, bluegrass, and a cappella quartet singing. 2) New Tradition is a Barbershop Chorus who competed in the 2000 International Barbershop Chorus Contest.
