About Neonsol

Solar-powered electronic dance beats. Biography Launched in 2009 by Nina and Jesper, the Copenhagen-based project made its first stage appearance in Trondheim, Norway in August 2010. The duo was joined in 2012 by Frédéric Scarfone ( Iszoloscope, Memmaker, Norad) and together they premiered live in Copenhagen at the Cyberworld XX release party, hosted by Club Braincorp in October 2012. Neonsol are now gearing up towards the release of a debut album in 2013. Neonsol's debut track "Manipulation" is featured on the Cyberworld XX compilation CD, along with prominent Danish electro acts Leæther Strip and Memmaker. Description The acoustic waves detected by satellites are analogous to sound waves on the Earth. Imagine the oscillating surface of the Sun behaving like a sound source. For instance, a loudspeaker produces sound by generating compression waves in the air due to the movement of the cone. These pressure waves are detected by the ear and transmitted as electrical impulses to the brain. Similarly, the satellite spectrometers are sensitive to spectral lines in sunlight. By observing the Doppler shift of these spectral lines we are able to reconstruct the movement of the solar surface and calculate the frequencies present using discrete Fourier methods. We can think of this as listening to the sound of the Sun.
