About Moonshine Coyote
The story so far… First cigar box guitar Moonshine Coyote’s journey began in 2016 when Jiff decided to make a cigar box guitar. Being very handy with creative engineering, it turned out better than expected. Having renewed a love for the blues his thoughts soon turned to playing it. About the same time, Lee, who was the drummer in the funk rock band that Jiff was in 22 years ago (Fungus Mungus), had just started playing again after a long break. Coincidentally, Lee had just purchased a cajon and Jiff thought this would fit perfectly with the blues, cigar box guitar style and so Moonshine Coyote was born… At one of their early performances, Ken, a well-travelled authentic American from North Carolina, new to the local music scene, heard them play the sounds of home and was keen to return to his roots. A blues player for many years, his bass guitar added a depth to the sound the pair were looking for and Moonshine Coyote evolved to a trio. In between rehearsals and work, Jiff continues to build cigar box guitars and Moonshine style amplifiers. This early success fuelled his ambition and he designed and built a cigar box bass guitar, which Ken fell in love with – he thoroughly enjoys playing it and the tone blends perfectly with the Moonshine Coyote sound. Jiff is still creating new instruments and we can’t wait to hear what comes next…
