About Momoyo

There are several groups by this name. 1. Belgian group : Fresh and intense, floating on nightly beats, lo-fi synths, mesmerizing strings and above all a voice that grabs you by the throat. momoyo is a new band from Ghent consisting of musicians from Uncle Wellington, Jan Verstraeten, Noémie Wolfs and Galine. momoyo was created in mid-2019 as a project by author and musician Jonas Bruyneel. In a search for a fresh and dark danceable sound, he collaborated with former Uncle Wellington musicians singer Frie Mechele, viola player Esther Coorevits (I Will, I Swear, Noémie Wolfs), hip-hop drummer Renaud Debruyne and bassist Sven Sabbe (Galine) on a series of songs each examining an aspect of what makes a person a person. Each title consists of one word, each word is an essential part of the human phenomenon. momoyo worked, tinkered and experimented in the lee, and stayed in the studio in peace and with a lot of patience with producer Klaas Tomme (Ides Moon, St. Grandson) and Filip Tanghe (Balthazar, Warhaus). All music was mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode). 2. A Japanese electro group.
