About Mississippi Live & The Dirty Dirty

Connely Farr hails from Bolton, Mississippi, the same town The Mississippi Sheiks called home in the ‘30s. Connely grew up across the street from a cotton gin, and then moved on to study architecture in Alabama at Auburn University. Connely spent two years working with the world renowned non-profit design/build Rural Studio in Alabama and in 2008 he relocated to Vancouver, BC. In 2009, he began work on his first studio album as Mississippi Live with indie producer Jon Wood. His first album has enjoyed over three months on Canada's College Radio Charts and has been critically well received in Canada and Europe. Just a week after the release of his debut album "Mississippi Live", singer/songwriter/architect Connely Farr teamed up with the Dirty Dirty to head back into the studio and record "Way Down Here". the Dirty Dirty are Jay B. Johnson (The Blue Shadows, Herald Nix) on drums, Jon Wood (Herald Nix, Cam Penner) on bass and Ben Yardley (Chinatown) on lead guitar. “Way Down Here” is co-produced by Jay B. Johnson and Jon Wood. The songs range from the heavy rocking of “The Devil Lives in the T.V.” and the desert blues of “Had To Leave Her” to the fun country found in “Over You” and “Butterfly”. The album ends on a wall of sound rock opera “Wooden Nickels”, inspired by and dedicated to Connely’s grandmother.
