About Mimezine

Mimezine, named after a hallucinating cocktail from the cyberpunk miniseries Wild Palms, started in 1996 when Baz Mattie and Marc Baronner discovered a mutual love for sampling and computers while remixing songs for Shine, the band they were in at the time. As soon as they found the perfect vocalist in Vera van der Poel, Mimezine went on to release a number of singles. In 2001 they released debut album Indeep, co-produced by JXL’s Tom Holkenborg, which was an innovative mix of dance and pop. The album was received very well and the band soon performed at renowned festivals such as Lowlands and Parkpop. In 2002 Mimezine was awarded an Essent Award. That same year the band supported Junkie XL, Groove Armada and Kosheen. After a relatively quiet 2-year period Mimezine signed a recording deal with The Electric Co. With Feed The Monkey, Mimezine delivers an album that will satisfy people’s appetite for innovative pop songs and catchy beats.
