About Mel Blue

“Melancholy Blue” describes the bittersweet sensation of nostalgia; a longing for a return to the childlike joy and wonder that used to come so easily to us.” It follows then, that the sound of Mel Blue, the now London-based trio consisting of Oscar Sharah, Jacob Siles, and Luke Gerber draws heavily from this universal feeling. At once imbuing their dance music with retrospection and modernity, bringing the past and present together to create a sound that is as vulnerable as it is forward thinking. Mel Blue wants you to reminisce without regret. Originally high school bandmates coming up through Sydney’s music scene, Mel Blue have spent years honing their unique sound and live performance style. From 2018 to 2022, Mel Blue released a set of singles and the Sanctuary Point Pt. I EP. The band saw new heights in 2022 when they signed with Nettwerk and performed alongside numerous Aussie talents at the Flight Facilities’ curated Airfields festival. In 2023 the band released their debut album, “Sanctuary Point”, followed by an Australian East Coast tour. Forever obsessed with English and French electronic music, Mel Blue uprooted and moved to London in 2023 in pursuit of being in the epicenter of that distinctly European influence and music history. The experience has led the trio to lean heavily into house and finesse the intricate task of performing electronic music live.
