About Maxis

This is not an artist, but appears here due to incorrectly tagged soundtracks. If this non-artist appears in your charts, do last.fm and yourself a favour. Fix your tags by putting the actual artist name in the artist field. The easiest is to use something like Picard. Maxis is not an artist, but a video game company based in Redwood City, California, best known for its "SimCity" and "The Sims" series, which have a large fan community today. Maxis was founded in 1987 by Will Wright and Jeff Braun. The company was acquired by Electronic Arts in 1997. They have produced many other games over the years, most but not all of which are simulations. Maxis games have a high quality in general, including the music. The production sounds professional and tracks for the latest games have been included as mp3 files (128k/44khz) on the game CDs. Most tracks listed on Last.fm are from the "Sim City" games (mainly from "Sim City 4") and the "The Sims" series. Due to the nature of the games, the tracks belong to many different genres. There are Rock, Jazz, Blues, Latin, Country & Western, Classic, Ambient and other style tracks among them. A specialty is that vocals are sung in a fictitious language that sounds very convincing but has no understandable words or meaning.
