Mark Ducommun

About Mark Ducommun

Mark Ducommun - Guitar and Vocals I started playing guitar at age 16 and have performed around Michigan for many years in a variety of bands and venues. While in college, I began writing music and recorded a Vinyl EP of 4 songs with a group we called Scatter. The record was pressed at The Record Plant in Detroit and our material was reviewed (unsolicited) in the Detroit News as one of the best local releases of the year. My latest and greatest band experience was my 10 years spent with Luther Gravey and the Soul Biscuits (LGSB) of northern Michigan fame, which disbanded in 2008. LGSB was a nine piece swing, soul, Motown & blues band, with a 5 piece hard swinging horn section. We recorded 2 CD’s during my time with the band (mostly all cover tunes), but our 2nd CD contained one of my original songs ‘Make You Mine’ which I re-recorded for this CD. I enjoy playing cover tunes but have always had a strong desire to write and record my own music. So, once LGSB parted ways, I finally listened to my ‘inner voice’, decided to focus on my original music, and headed to the studio to record some of the songs that I felt were worthy of sharing. My solo effort, ‘Duke’s Blues ‘n’ Grooves’ is the result of those sessions. I love ‘The Blues’ but have a wide variety of musical interest and influence, which is reflected in my 11 songs of original music, and you are sure to find something you like! Just to let you know if you are interested, our CD's from Luther Gravey and the Soul Biscuits (LGSB) are only available at www.Worldrec.org. Just click on the link if you want to check them out!
