About Max Prosa

Max Prosa (* 1989 in Berlin; real name Max Podeschwig) is a German singer-songwriter. Max Prosa grew up in Berlin-Charlottenburg with his mother, skipped a school grade, and graduated with his Abitur at the age of 17 from the Hildegard-Wegscheider-Oberschule in Berlin-Grunewald. After two aborted studies in physics and philosophy, Prosa moved to Berlin-Neukölln and dedicated himself to music. At 18, he applied to the Mannheim Pop Academy, where he was initially rejected. However, in 2010 he received the opportunity to participate in the band pool project of the Pop Academy. In 2011, Clueso took notice of him and engaged him for the opening act of his tour "An-und-für-sich." In the same year, he made his first television appearance on "Inas Nacht." In January 2012, his debut album "Die Phantasie wird siegen" was released (featuring Dota as guest vocalist). The work received positive reviews from critics and comparisons to the young Bob Dylan, reaching number 20 on the German album charts. In February 2012, Prosa went on his first nationwide solo tour. His second album "Rangoon" was released in April 2013. He is friends with Misha Schoeneberg (formerly with Ton Steine Scherben), with whom he collaborates on the development of song lyrics. In spring 2016, Max Prosa was on a nationwide club tour with a new band lineup. At the end of March 2017, his third studio album "Keiner kämpft für mehr" was released. In spring 2018, the artist released the album "Heimkehr" and simultaneously the book "Im Stillen" containing poems and short stories. In an interview with the cultural radio program Corso on Deutschlandfunk, Max Prosa explained in February 2018 about this double release: "It was created in the same cycle [...] Certain thoughts can only be shaped when it is quiet [...] Sometimes I don't even know exactly whether these texts that I start to write will become songs or poems; the matter decides that for itself. Some lie around for three or four years, or I have them in my head until a piece of music joins them." In 2020, Prosa recorded the John Lennon song "Jealous Guy," which appeared on the CD Rare Trax: Lennon Re-Imagined, a supplement to the December 2020 issue of the German Rolling Stone.
